Disaster Recovery Home Owner Rehab/Reconstruction Program

All homeowners in the City of Galveston whose homes were damaged by Hurricane Ike are urged to apply for assistance from the city's new Disaster Recovery Housing Program - a voluntary program designed to help repair damaged and, when necessary, reconstruct homes.

Disaster Recovery Rental Rehabilitation Program

The purpose of the City of Galveston Disaster Recovery Rental Housing Rehabilitation Program (RENTAL HOUSE PROGRAM) is to provide rehabilitation assistance to single-family and multi-family (up to 4 units) rental units (non-Section 8) that were damaged by Hurricane Ike and were under-insured, have no insurance, or where a financial gap exists between insurance, FEMA, SBA and the assistance necessary to bring units up to HUD standard building code.

Disaster Recovery Homebuyer Assistance Program

The Homebuyer Assistance Program is a voluntary program designed to encourage both renters and homeowners to return to the island and purchase a home. The program will provide $5000.00 in down payment and closing cost assistance to income qualified residents.

Master Neighborhood Plan

Reflecting the recommendations from the long term community recovery plan, the city of Galveston has begun the Master Neighborhood Plan program. The Master neighborhood plan will provide unique, neighborhood specific plans for communities throughout the city. The Plans are driven by community involvement and will address the topics important to the individual neighborhoods.
